Boeing to Plead Guilty to Misleading Regulators Over Fatal 737 Max Crashes

Boeing has agreed to plead guilty to a criminal charge of conspiracy to defraud the United States after the Justice Department concluded that the aircraft manufacturer failed to live up to an earlier settlement over two deadly crashes of its 737 Max jetliner, the department said. Under a plea agreement in principle with prosecutors, Boeing faces a criminal penalty of up to $487.2 million, the maximum allowed under law, although a judge would determine the exact amount, the Justice Department said.
